THURSDAYS HAVE OFFICIALLY BEEN DECLARED “TIDBIT THURSDAY” ON THE BLOG!
Today we will be talking about how to freeze meat.
As many of you have heard, the price of groceries is getting ready to go up about 30%. . so now would be a great time to start stocking up on meat and freezing it. You can actually freeze most meats up to a year as long as they are packaged well. I would suggest in the next month or so to buy that meat when it is B1G1 FREE or on drastic reduction due to “sell by” date. When others are paying more for meat, you will already have yours all stocked up at the “regular” sale price!
**TIPS TO FREEZING MEAT**
1. Package your meat in serving portions suitable for your family. Large steaks are best stored individually, allowing for quick defrosting.
2. Remove the meat from its cellophane packaging tray.
3. Wrap the meat in plastic wrap as tight as possible, removing all of the air. Then wrap the plastic-covered meat in aluminum foil, removing all of the air with a tight wrap and folding the edges.
4. Wrap meat in family-sized portions in the previous steps. Place the meat in a resealable freezer bag. Seal most of the top, leaving a small hole on one side. Then remove as much air as possible, and fully seal the bag.
5. Label the meat that is in each package and date it.
6. If you get the meat that is near the “sell by” date make sure you use it the day that you thaw it out or it will be NO good!
Now you can freeze for up to one year – so STOCK-UP! Hope you all found this helpful!
