MATTHEW 25:40
This is always one of my highlights. I cannot tell you the feeling that I get feeding and serving the homeless/less fortunate. It is such a blessing. We had 200 pounds of turkey and used every bit of it. THANK YOU JESUS!! We served about 50 people at the church, had 75 to go boxes and Danielle, Vanessa, Hannah, and her friends delivered 50+ more downtown to the homeless. I cannot tell you the LOVE that I feel when we do this. To know, we are serving THEM. . . They come in and go through the serving line, but then we fellowship with them and we serve them! It is their time to allow us to take care of them. My friend, Robert, whom I love dearly was the first one there. I don’t know who was more excited him or me to see each other. He said, he was thinking as he was walking if it was going to be us there. We had picked him up a CHRISTmas present and Jadyn ran up to him and gave him the biggest hug and gave him his present. She said “Merry CHRISTmas Mr. Robert. . we love you”. It was priceless. He hugged her and told her he loved her too. Then as he was sitting at the table, he was bragging to his friends that he got a CHRISTmas gift, LOL!! Here is a picture of me and my friend, Robert. . I cannot tell you how much I love this man!!
We had care packages for the majority of people and it was just cool to see how grateful they were. Then our friend, Jan, brought gloves and scarves and gave them to some of the men. What a thoughtful idea and really touched them. No strings attached just to feel the Love of Jesus in such a tangible way. One of my favorite stories was it was very slow at first so my friends Danielle and Vanessa went driving around to “hunt down people” and they met two ladies and invited them to come to the church. About 20 minutes later the ladies showed up, Annette and her daughter, Anicia. Annette explained to us that that was her first time stepping into a church as she had a bad experience. She was invited to a friends church for a luncheon, but when they went up for seconds, they were told they could not have any. She said they judged her and her kids. She said this was such a different experience. She said they walked in and instantly felt loved. She said they came to me, they invited me, and you all made us feel welcome. She said I know I need to go to church and maybe I will now, because of her experience today. THANK YOU JESUS. . We are the image of Christ. We have so many opportunities every day to show love and because they felt loved, it changed her opinion of “church”. We told her we would be serving again January 19th and she said she would be back with friends. . YAY GOD!! We may not have the monetary means to help everyone, but we all have LOVE AND JOY to share with others and that is what we are called to do. I am so excited for January 19th and will be posting the sign up sheets in a few weeks, but put that on your calendar now. Thank you everyone that helped make this possible, some made monetary donations, some cooked, some showed up to serve, some stayed to clean up, BUT it took every single one of us to make it happen and all the Glory Goes to God and God alone!! I so love watching God at work!! Love you guys bunches!!
And all the servers. . . a labor of LOVE, but ALL THE GLORY TO GOD!!
