Akron Children’s Hospital Satellite – Montrose Emergency Department
As most of you know, when we receive exceptional care or treatment, I love to share with all of you. This weekend Jonah and Josiah had a soccer tournament in Cleveland. Unfortunately, it turned into yet another ER visit for our family but this time not soccer related. After playing four games, we got checked into our hotel, went out for dinner, and then Jamie took the kids down to the pool so I could have some time just to unwind and get the drug store matchups completed. About 30 minutes after them being down at the pool, Jonah and his friend started knocking on the door and said “Mom, Jadyn cut her foot really bad. It is bleeding all over the place”. I went downstairs and sure enough, she was using the elliptical machine barefoot and got her foot caught and had a laceration on the top of her foot that was bleeding pretty bad. The staff at the Radisson were amazing getting us a first aid kit, etc, but it was obvious she was going to need sutures. Our good friends, Shannon and Mike, were staying at the same hotel so Shannon told us just to go to the ER, right around the corner, and she would keep the boys for us. We came upstairs to get ready and Isaiah was crying, he was so scared for Jadyn and Shannon was comforting him. Thank God for good friends that just take over 🙂 I looked over and Jonah had his arms around Jadyn and he started praying for her. Can I just say I love my kids so much. Jonah is definitely our prayer warrior at the young age of only 10. He ALWAYS goes first to the Lord in prayer. It is so special. I couldn’t hear what he was saying, but when he ended, he had tears streaming down his face. It is precious to see how concerned the kids are for each other. We left and headed for the ER (Montrose ER – satellite of Akron Children’s Hospital). We have had many visits to the ER and I can tell you this was an exceptionally AWESOME experience. The lady who took our information was so kind and they got us right back to take her vitals and look at the wound. The person assigned to Jadyn was Luke. He was so kind and calmed Jadyn right down. He explained he would be the one fixing Jadyn’s wound.
He took us back in our room and just had a calming voice. You could tell that Luke was an angel sent by God for Jadyn. She was scared, but he explained everything to her and told her he didn’t want to hurt her. I could tell he was a person that worked in the ER because he truly cared about children. He took his time, cared not only for Jadyn, but cared about Jamie and myself also. Even though there were other patients in the ER, we felt like we were the only ones! To get this kind of treatment in an ER is rare, so to think you are being treated like you are the President makes you feel pretty special. I wanted to post about this because if you live in the Akron Area and are ever in need of an emergency room, be sure to visit Montrose Emergency Department at 4125 Medina Road. I sure hope you never need one, but if you do, know this is a one-of-a-kind place that will give you royal treatment. Also, Luke’s Birthday is tomorrow so we would like to personally wish Luke a Happy Birthday. Luke, if you read this, thank you from the bottom of our hearts for the care that you gave to Jadyn tonight. Thank you for taking the time and caring about her. Thank you for giving her royal treatment. You made a difference tonight and we appreciate you!! May God bless you abundantly and may you continue to bless many with your gift of kindness and compassion for children. What you do matters and did not go unnoticed tonight. We appreciated it more than you can imagine.
Here is a picture of Jadyn and Mr. Luke three sutures later and she’s smiling – I call that AWESOMENESS!!!

I love that Jonah prays over people when they need it! Our oldest Patrick does that too. It’s beautiful to see such young men know Who is in control in the storm.

Thank you Joni for recognizing my nephew Luke as more than just a pretty face! He loves his job (usually) and has always been great with kids. It was a treat for his family to read about him this way!
