I’m not a Genie in a Bottle . . . BUT I am so much more!!!

I have been back and forth with posting this and typing and retyping as I want it to come across from my heart, so please know this is out of love. I receive 100s of emails a day asking me to help with this charity, with this family and another family, etc, etc. (and please don’t stop sending them). and when I respond and state I will be praying and give advice on how I think it can be successful, sometimes I get the negative responses that I don’t care, why aren’t “you” helping. Please know, I still want to receive the emails, so please don’t stop, BUT please remember I am ONLY ONE PERSON. I am not a Genie in a Bottle that can miraculously make things happen, but I have a God that can and the power of prayer is more powerful than I will ever be. I cannot be involved in everything that is happening. I am a wife, a mother of 7 wonderful children here on earth, I work a “real” job full-time, run a blog, a sister, aunt, friend, child of God and so much more, BUT I am not a Genie. Each and every email I receive comes to me with a heartfelt request and I read each and every email and respond with a heartfelt response. I pray over the requests and ask for God’s blessing. I ask for God to reveal to me how I can best help each person. I so wish I had unlimited time and I could help everyone. I wish I was rich with money to take everyone’s financial burden away, but the wealth I have from the Lord is so much more. We serve a God that created the universe, so when I respond that I am praying, don’t underestimate that for me being “insensitive”; it in fact is just the opposite. Prayer is more powerful than anything else I could do. I am a person with feelings and I, too, want to be treated with respect. Sometimes I need to sit back and fill “myself” back up as I get tired, mentally, physically, and emotionally. We are all disciples of Christ and we all have the same ability to serve . . it is not up to one person to do it, but everyone needs to get involved. We all need to “give” and NOT just “take”. We may think we don’t have anything to give, but the things that matter in “life” don’t cost anything. One thing I can assure you all if you email me a request, it is being prayed over!!

I just want you all to know I will let you down sometimes, I am human, and by no means am I perfect. I try my best to get involved in as much as I can and help as much as I can and that is all I can do.

Here are a few other things I would like to end with and many of you may not agree, but these are just some things to ponder as we are entering upon the Holiday season. We have had a nonprofit that we help less fortunate families at CHRISTmas time. This will be our 15th year. Every year we have people that want to donate “used” items. Last year we needed a coat for a mother and we had a friend that stated she needed a new coat, so she would give this mother her “old coat’. I would ask all of you to prayfully consider doing just the opposite. Most of these families receive “used/hand-me-down” items all year round. Rather than giving them the “used” stuff, let’s treat them like the masterpieces God created them to be. Rather then us going and buying ourselves a new coat, why not buy them a new coat and get an extra year’s use out of our “old” coat. Let’s just be more sensitive to those around us and be the Image of Christ in ALL things we do. You may think, well they should get themselves out of this situation; ultimately that is not up to us. . . maybe this is Jesus in disguise. Matthew 25:40. So many times we think “well someone else will do that”, but it is up to us to do it. . . If we see a need, we just need to pray about it, and God will lead us how to best respond, but we need to be obedient.

We have almost 20K people on this page and there is power in numbers and with Christ in the Center of all things we do. . so let’s make this a powerful holiday season by helping many. Let’s show others the love of Christ in tangible ways!! Thanks for letting me share!!  Love you guys!
