Today was our monthly feeding the homeless/less fortunate. This is something I look forward to every single month. There is no greater love than loving on the less fortunate. I know I say every month how much I love this, but I truly cannot express how much this makes my heart smile. Today, I was so proud our son, Isaiah (12 y/o), prayed before we ate.
It was the sweetest thing ever and I love to hear the prayers or our children. We only fed about 25 at the church today, but then delivered an additional 50+ to the homeless downtown.
Our first stop was to a lady that was on the side of the road sitting with her shopping cart (homeless). I asked her if she wanted a meal and she was so thrilled. She tried to get up but couldn’t even stand up. I took the meal to her and touched her hand and she squeezed it so tight. Human touch is so powerful to people who don’t receive it very often (and to those of us that do). I would have loved to have sat there and heard her story. We are so blessed to have served for the last 1 1/2 years at Bethlehem Church but know God has directed our paths to St. Lucas Lutheran Church where we will begin serving April 13th (the Sunday before Easter). We are so blessed to have met some wonderful friends and excited to see what else God has in store for us. Also, I was so excited today, Bernell, one of the gentleman that took home one of my sweet potato pies last month told me it was the best sweet potato pie he has ever had and he had prayed I brought one this month too, LOL:) He said you need to make some up and sell them, hahaha:) I think I will be making a trip back to bless him with a sweet potato pie. Also, my son, Cliff, who just moved to Delaware, OH showed up and spent some time with us. I have not seen him in six weeks so it was so AWESOME to see him. When he left, he told me “Mom I am so glad you are my mom. I love what you are doing. You are making a difference!”. To hear my 25 y/o son that, really meant a lot to me. I love him so much and since he grew up with us doing this type of stuff, I don’t think he ever really realized the impact until he is now an adult.
There truly is no greater love than loving on others and as I state all the time, I will continue to do this as long as I can. This is my “happy place” and I truly want to make a difference in this world. .. no matter if we fed 25 or 500 today, that was at least one less person going hungry and that is what God wants us to do. you guys and so excited for next month. God-sized dreams continue:)
GOD IS GOOD. . . ALL THE TIME!!
