When I went to Dollar General to get this great deal I had to deal with four employees that don’t understand coupons or their coupon policy. I purchased 4 of the County Time’s and 2 of the Velveeta toppers. I used three coupons totaling $3.40. Since my math said that the $6 – $3.40 – $4 (the DG discount) = -$1.40 I added two candy bars. When the total didn’t come up correctly I questioned them and was told that all of the discounts applied but, I couldn’t see how. When she handed me my receipt I realized that they didn’t take off the full $4 discount. It only took off a total of $4.97 (per the coupon savings statement). I told her that showed my $3.40 in coupons and $1.57 were all that was taken off. I was told that you couldn’t “double dip” and use coupons with the sale. I explained that if that were true then no money would have been deducted. I then said that I wanted to just return the merchandise and forget about it since I couldn’t get my money back like I was told when I questioned the cashier about the incorrect total. “The manager will be able to look at it and correct it for you.” Well I went back the next day since, the manager wasn’t there and was told that since I used coupons I couldn’t return the merchandise. Their computer would tell them to give me more then I paid and there was no way to override the computer. I guess I learned not to shop at this Dollar General if I am going to use coupons. Maybe I shouldn’t complain because I still got a good deal but, I just needed to vent to someone that would understand.
Joni, I also want to tell you that I really enjoyed your book. My children laughed at me because I started crying within five minutes of reading. When I was 10 God put Matthew 25:35-40 on my heart so I could understand how you felt at 5. God has lead me to be involved with 4 nonprofits were couponing has helped make a difference.
Wow now that sounds like a mess. . my trip was such a success, no problem at all, but the manager was simply amazing. Amazing how God places things on our heart isn’t it. . GOD IS GOOD. . ALL THE TIME!!
Are they honoring multiples of the Dollar General kraft deal? Can I do 6 items in one transaction or just 3?
The manager at our store, just said to do them in separate transactions:) Hope that helps!!
I had some trouble with this deal too, but the manager worked with me and we figured it out. The problem was, you had to let them ring up all the items, total it, then do the coupons. Worked like a charm, and I was able to do two transactions with no problems, but the first few times we tried it wouldnt take the coupons, or it didnt take off the two dollars. Their system has very specific rules, apparently!! Hopefully that will help in the future, I have had some difficulty with couponing at Dollar General before as well.
