DARLING MENSING’S CHRISTmas Miracle – 2015

As most of you know, Darling Mensing wrote a letter to MaryBeth and Rick 101.5 The River about her CHRISTmas wish. Darling has stage IV pancreatic cancer and she was asking for help with siding on their 100+ year-old farmhouse, which was her great grand-parents as well as (if at all possible) a wraparound porch. MaryBeth presented the letter to me to see if we could help (since they were unable to) and she knew Jamie was very handy. I was 100% confident this was from God as I had just come off a fast and we agreed to help. I immediately posted on FB to see if anyone knew how to do the siding and we received several responses. Jamie and 9 other guys headed out on Sunday, December 13 and met up with Charlie (Dar’s Husband). I went out and met Darling later in the morning and my goodness, I immediately fell in love with her. She reminded me so much of my mom. She grabbed my hand and I felt such a warmth go through my body. I knew without hesitation that this was God. After meeting her, I told her we would make sure the porch got done too. I was not sure how it was going to happen, but I knew God did 🙂 I called WTOL NEWS 11 and they came out and did a story and within the next 24 hours I had over 100+ responses from people stating they were willing to come out the next weekend, December 20th, to help in whatever capacity they could, from food, to volunteering to help, to praying, and so much more. It was so cool watching so many people come out to help. It was truly ONLY SOMETHING God could orchestrate – nothing to do with me or Jamie but EVERYTHING to do with God. Through Christ ALL things are possible. We had many laughs along the way including the first time I hugged Charlie, a very awkward hug for him, as he is not a hugger and he let me know LOL:) Jamie and I knew that we had met lifelong friends. Charlie and Darling are amazing and so are their children. They are all so special to our family and I am confident Charlie will eventually get used to my hugs!! The porch was finished CHRISTmas Eve with some other finishing touches that have been done. In addition, all the money was not raised for the porch so we are still accepting donations for the materials, etc. The Saturday after CHRISTmas Kelly Lindsay went out and did a photo shoot of the family on the porch and in the meantime, Jamie and I knew we wanted to do one more thing and that was make a final video with a song to present to the family. My friend, Jimmy Lewis, is a musician and he wrote and sang the song – AMAZING 🙂 It was so much more than I ever expected. It was perfect. It was so personal to the family and it gave me God-bumps. God has been all over this project from Darling writing the letter to the song that I still just stand in Awe of his goodness. As most of you know (or maybe you don’t) I am not a good secret keeper, so not being able to share this song until tonight has been soooooo hard for me. I had no intention of letting Micah hear the song ahead of time, but on Friday I text him to see if he wanted to hear it, he declined and said he wanted to hear it when all of his family did. Now that is discipline LOL:) Tonight, Jamie and I and the kids went over to Dar and Charlie’s house for dinner with them and their kids and gave them the song. My heart is just so full of joy and overwhelmed with emotions. This family is one of the sweetest, most special families I have ever met. They are all AWESOME. I am so excited to be able to share it with all of you. What we witnessed this CHRISTmas was a true Miracle – only something God could make happen – All things are possible through Christ. As most of you also know, a gofundme account was started to help offset the supplies, but to date only 83% of that goal has been met, so I am asking for each of you to donate $5 (if you are able) so they can reach 100% of their goal.
