NOT COUPON RELATED – UPDATE TO HEALTH, ETC

As most of you know I have been battling some pretty severe health issues since February 2. What started as panic attacks turned out to be a critically low ferritin level and female issues. After seeing a hematologist and then going to my GYN, Dr. Gibbs, a plan was put together. Surgery was scheduled for July 22nd, but due to some complications and me not responding to several meds,it was determined to do my daVinci Hysterectomy last Wednesday. I want to take a few moments and share the excellent care I received from Dr. Gibbs and my preop nurse, Kristin on Wednesday. Dr. Gibbs knew I was very afraid to have general anesthesia. A few of my concerns, which probably sound crazy, is my vision is 20/800, so I cannot see at all. I wanted to make sure when I woke up someone put my glasses on so I could see. Secondly, I was afraid of waking up and having a panic attack. Dr. Gibbs assured me he would take care of both of these things. My preop nurse, Kristin, is one of my good friend’s best friend, so I knew I was in good hands with her. I went to see Dr. Gibbs on Tuesday due to some complications and he went over the procedure in detail with me and Jamie. The thing that I admire the most about Dr. Gibbs is you feel like you are his only patient. Sure, you may have to wait in the waiting room a bit, but when he comes in the room, you feel like you are the only patient as he sits and listens and lets you ask questions; sometimes redundantly lol. That means everything, especially to someone who is as anxious as me. He gave me some meds that he wanted me to take that would help relax me and get me prepared for surgery. He listened to me and let me ask all sorts of questions, mainly the one “has anyone ever not woken up during the procedure” LOL:) He is calm, compassionate, and full of love. He is a blessing. Tuesday night I was anxious, but slept well and got up and me and Jamie and the kids prayed and we headed to the hospital at 5:30 (thanks to my mother-in-law) for coming over and watching our kids. When I got in the preop room, Kristin, was amazing w/me. Jamie, Deanna, Tarie, Vanessa, and Danielle, all came back and prayed with me before I was being taken back to the OR. When we finished, Dr. Gibbs came walking in and of course I had totalk to him to remind him one last time “I needed by glasses on when I woke up and I needed them to make sure I did not have a full blow panic attack”. I also told him that I needed him to be there when I woke up so we needed to make a “secret handshake” so I knew it was him LOL:) He assured me again I would be just fine and he would take care of me, which he did. I don’t remember hardly anything from Wed to Thursday. I honestly do not even remember leaving the hospital. I don’t remember being wheeled down or getting in the van. When I woke up I did have my glasses on and remember they were doing an IVP on me. I remember asking why but never remembered what they told me. I also had to get a STAT CT scan due to some abnormalities on my kidney, which is a congenital defect that they were not aware of. When I got up to my room I remember my nurse telling me that Dr. Gibbs was the one that placed my glasses on me after surgery. He made sure I had my glasses on. Again, may seem small to some, but he knew how important it was to me and he made sure that was taken care of. I cannot express how much I adore Dr. Gibbs as a person and as a doctor. He has a compassion that all physicians need. He listens to his patients and he does what he can to make them comfortable. Between him and Kristin, my surgery was completely uneventful. Tonight as I sit here I feel blessed that God placed Dr. Gibbs in my path. I know from experience finding a physician like this is few and far between but I can assure you if you need an OB-GYN doctor, you will not be disappointed. He is the BEST and Jamie and I LOVE him to pieces (along with his entire office staff). I have my first postop app’t Wednesday and thinking it will go well. I have very little pain (only had to take 1 pain pill) and was actually out driving and taking pictures for the blog today. Thank you Jesus for all these blessings and for the special gift of Dr. Gibbs and Kristin!!

URGENT prayers needed please.  

As most of you know I have been dealing with some health issues since February 2nd. I have received blood transfusions, iron infusions, and been put on all sorts of chemo meds, etc. Yesterday I went to see my surgeon due to continuous bleeding and I am scheduled for surgery at 7:30 AM. It will be an overnight stay. Please pray specifically for the surgeon, the anesthesiologist, the nurses, the techs, preop and postop nurses and for a calmness about me as I am feeling anxious. Believing in complete healing of my body and blood by the stripes of Jesus.  Thanks in advance everyone.  Love you all
