Outreach Opportunity ~ Who wants to get involved in the Back-to-School Backpack Project?

3rd-ANNUAL BACKPACK PROJECT!!

There are so many people hurting financially right now that we thought we would take a survey and see how many are interested in the backpack project again this year.  This is a great opportunity for many of us to help each other out from the blog and facebook page. Last year we were able to fill 118 backpacks.  We are still in the early stages. The receiver would be matched with a family and fill one backpack of supplies from the receiver child’s school list and send it to them or you can mail them a gift card for them to purchase the items.  The receiver would receive the backpack filled for one of their children.  WE ARE ONLY FILLING 1 BACKPACK PER FAMILY THIS YEAR AND ONLY GRADES K-5 and you MUST have a list from the school your child is attending (absolutely no EXCEPTIONS) !!

Please note we will make a decision by July 15th if there is enough interest in doing this again this year once we have all the questionnaire information. [Read more…]

FREE LAUNDRY DAY in Toledo, Saturday, June 28, 2014 ~ WE NEED 10 MORE VOLUNTEERS!!

 **PRAISE GOD, WE HAVE RAISED ALL MONEY, BUT WE STILL NEED 10 MORE VOLUNTEERS AND COOKIES/CUPCAKES, ETC**

We still need help.  We need donations of cookies, cupcakes, muffins, etc and people to volunteer the day of the event.  If you are interested in helping – please CLICK here to sign up.

 We are providing another FREE Laundry Day on Saturday, June 28th, at Laundry Express, 1136 N. Byrne Road (on the corner of Byrne and Dorr) Toledo, OH .  We will be providing 2 loads of laundry per family (while supplies last). We are still looking for businesses, churches, and families to make a monetary donation, purchase food items, or volunteer the day of event.   In addition, we are asking for donations of laundry detergent, softener, bleach, and dryer sheets. There is so much negativity in this world, its time to show communities something positive and let it start with Toledo, OH!! Lets show other communities how much random acts of kindness truly can impact someone’s life. If you have been following the blog long, you will remember we did this on a smaller scale at All-Wash Laundromat on February 8th and Super Suds Laundromat on April 28th and here is some testimony from that:)   It is heartwarming! We know that we cannot do this, but we know it is possible through Christ.  We are asking everyone to please prayfully consider getting involved. . all the glory to God:) Thanks for considering and we are excited to see this happen:) GOD IS GOOD. . . **OUTREACH OPPORTUNITY** Help us feed the Homeless/Less fortunate on Sunday, April 13th!!

**WE NEED YOUR HELP PLEASE**

We will be doing a monthly outreach to help feed the homeless/less fortunate in our community.  We are scheduled for  Sunday, April 13th from 4 p.m. until 5:30 p.m. at St. Lucas Lutheran Church at 745 Walbridge Avenue (Off of Broadway), Toledo, OH 43609.  We are doing an Easter theme since this is the week before Easter Sunday.   This is our NEW location and the time now be from 4 to 5:30 p.m.  This is for the entire family so feel free to bring your children.  We have a  sign-up sheet for all item that we need.   PLEASE READ CAREFULLY THE NOTES BESIDE EACH ITEM YOU ARE SIGNING UP FOR SO YOU PROVIDE THE CORRECT QUANTITY NEEDED!! ALSO, ANYONE THAT SIGNS UP TO VOLUNTEER, WILL ALSO NEED TO BRING AN ITEM FROM THE LIST DUE TO LIMITED RESOURCES.  We are also doing up 21 children’s Easter Baskets/Eggs as we are told many families will come:)  

We need all the food to be brought in the 1/2 size aluminum pans (Standard 9 x 13 and approx. 2″ deep) or you can bring a full size sheet pan.  Please make sure they are completely full as that is what we are basing the portion sizes on. To sign up for the items you want to bring Go HERE!! If you want to sign up for multiple items, please feel free to do that. We need all items at the church by 3:30 p.m.  PLEASE DO NOT SIGN UP IF YOU ARE NOT ABLE TO GET THE ITEMS TO THE CHURCH (unfortunately, we will not be able to pick ANY items up) All items also need to be fully cooked and hams need to be sliced.  The link above should take you directly to the sign-up sheet. Our God-Sized Dream ~ Please help us make this happen:)

**GOD-SIZED DREAM – NOT COUPON RELATED**

So anyone who knows me and my family knows when we dream, it is God-sized dreams. Dreams that we truly feel are inspired by God. A month ago we felt the nudging from God to do the FREE Laundromat Day and it was so amazing. . . God was definitely glorified. It was all about him and nothing to do with any of us that volunteered. Since Saturday night, Jamie and I have both had an unsettling feeling in our spirit and spent a lot of time last night in prayer asking God for clarity and direction on what he wanted us to do next. . . well, as I type this into existence I know it sounds crazy, because it is such a BIG DREAM, but it is truly a God-sized dream. . and through Christ ALL things are possible. It was placed on our heart to do a FREE Laundromat Day for the ENTIRE CITY OF TOLEDO. . . . yes, to get every single laundromat in the City of Toledo to come on board and for 3 hours (same day/same time) for every laundromat to provide FREE laundry service. We are getting it all in order and then going to make a plea to the public to get churches and businesses and families involved. . for them to “adopt” a laundromat and pay for the laundry for those 3 hours (10 a.m. to 1 p.m.) and get the volunteers. So far we know of 25 different laundromats in Toledo, but we need to go visit each of them so we know what it would cost to cover each one for 3 hours. We also want to do it soon (thinking April). I know many will say that is too soon to try to plan something of this magnitude, but I am here to tell you nothing is too BIG for our God and I will also share why I want to do it so soon. Some of you may not agree and that is okay, but I will share my feelings. First I will make the comparison to Hurricane Sandy. I made a plea on a Friday night at 11 p.m. and by the next day, Saturday, by 4 p.m. in the afternoon, we had filled, 6, 24- to 32-foot long trucks full of supplies and enough money to get all the trucks there plus the gas money and toll fees and we were only trying to fill a 14-foot truck. Why did this happen? I believe, because it was God-inspired. We serve a God that created the universe. . he can do so much more than we think or even imagine. Why not dream BIG dreams and put it in his hands? When we try to plan and get it perfect, it is no longer God-inspired, it is more human-inspired. I agree with organization, etc, because I am an overachiever, but when we put it in God’s hands, HE CAN DO IT PERFECTLY, exactly the way he wants it done. When we get too many involved in the planning, and wait for months and months, then it becomes man-inspired. This was God-inspired and I want it to continue that way. I also look at it this way, most businesses and churches will know if they want to “adopt” a laundromat or not. It will not take months to decide. We have already done it so I will meet with them and explain who to organize it the day of. Also, it will vary in price between $500 for small laundromats to $1300 for larger laundromats, so when we make the sign-up (adoption list) it will be specific how much money is needed to cover that Laundromat for 3 hours. Can you imagine the impact we could have in our community. . 3 hours of FREE Laundry in the ENTIRE CITY of TOLEDO all for the GLORY OF GOD!!! The only way this is going to take place is with ALL OF US JOINING TOGETHER IN PRAYER and then spreading the word. I am hoping by early next week to have the sign-up sheets ready (DOES ANYONE KNOW OF A FORM LIKE PERFECT POTLUCK THAT IS MORE FOR VOLUNTEERS), to make my pitch to the media, the churches, and businesses, and then let God do the rest. I am also asking for prayers for our family, because I know by typing this into existence Satan is going to come out against us in full force and we truly would appreciate the prayers during this planning process. Also, if you know of any Laundromat in Toledo (please note we only want Toledo address laundromats) please comment below so we make sure we have EVERYONE covered. We are so excited for this and know many lives will be impacted by his ministry. FREE Oil Change Ministry for single moms, low-income families, and senior citizens in the Toledo and surrounding Area!!

As part of our 365 Days of Kindness we have decided to do something BIG once a month and the month of March, we are doing FREE oil changes for 20 people.  Qualifications are single mom, low-income families, or senior citizens. The date is March 22nd from 8 a.m. (oil changes every 30 minutes) with last oil change being done at 12:30 p.m.  

This will be at Sylvania Area Family Services at 5440 Marshall Drive and you will need to CLICK HERE to sign up for your time slot and ALSO SIGN UP UNDER THIS LINK TO VOLUNTEER TO HELP CHANGE OIL PLEASE:)

Please also note YOU MUST INCLUDE THE FOLLOWING IN THE “WHAT YOU’LL BRING” SECTION  (or your name will be removed)

  • Engine Size of vehicle – 4, 6, or 8 cylinder.  (ALL INFORMATION IS NEEDED)
