RANDOM ACTS OF KINDNESS STORIES – MATTHEW 25:40
Yesterday we did our monthly feeding outreach ~ I guess you could call it an intentional act of kindness, but so many have shared their testimonies and we have heard so many random acts of kindness stories. (You can also read the random acts of Kindness stories from our 365 Days of Kindess HERE). To read the random It was simply amazing. We served at our new location again, St. Lucas Church. As always we pray that God sends the perfect number and my goodness did he ever. Isaiah led us in prayer before we started serving and I might add, it does a heart good to hear a child pray and understand the power of it!!
We served 192 people (22 more people than last month – THANK YOU JESUS) We did not begin serving until 4 p.m. but we had people lined up as early as 3:30 (actually 2 people were there at 2:45 when we arrived) When we finally opened the doors for the people to come in there were over 45 people waiting. It is just so refreshing to see all the people that come, some single, some families, but the mix is PERFECT. In addition to serving a meal, we handed out care packages and they were calling Danielle the “hygienic angel”. The interaction was amazing. You all know my favorite man is Dennis. I was so excited to see him today and so was Jamie and the kids.Jonah even sat with him and ate. It was priceless.
The compliments we received on the food and how much they were able to eat, seconds, if wanted just really does your heart good. You see most soup kitchens that serve cannot do meals like we do because of their limited budgets, so when they receive a meal like we are able to serve (once a month), they are so appreciative. God was definitely in the house. In addition, Pastor Billmeier came (Pastor of St. Lucas). Me and Jamie absolutely adore him. To think we met him one time and then asked him to serve at their church and they said yes. If you want to feel love, stop by this church and they will embrace you and love you instantly. . . no strings attached. That’s the love of Jesus!!
Here is a picture of Danielle, Jamie, Jonah, pastor, me, and Vanessa!! You all know Danielle and Vanessa are two of the biggest blessings in my life. I love them so much and truly they are my sisters in Christ forever. I don’t know what I would do without them. The love in this church is contagious. We had a family that showed up at 5:30 (right when we stopped serving), but we were able to make up food for their family to take (family of 7 – mom and 6 kids). Those kids thanked us, hugged us, and Heidi and Vanessa drove them home. That is what being the hands and feet of Jesus is all about. Loving others as Jesus loves us. It may seem like a small gesture, but to someone who is hurting, it can change their life. The best part is, everyone that arrived was actually served today and so many of the children were involved in the serving.
Preparation always starts at home with making the food, Jonah made a huge roaster full of mac & cheese (by himself and prayed over it while he was making it asking for God to bless everyone that came to be served) and this was the first time Isaiah actually worked in the serving line (mashed potatoes and gravy). If I leave nothing else with my kids when I pass, I want to leave the legacy of serving others. For them to know EVERYONE matters. I don’t care if someone is black, white, purple with pink polka dots, rich, poor, homeless, sick, etc. . . because they are all God’s creation and matter and for that simple reason, they matter to me. I will love on the least of these until I take my last breath!! It is just so cool to watch the fellowship of those being served and the ones serving. The love was overflowing and it the love of Jesus. My most favorite part is how every single person that entered, I am confident, felt loved. No strings attached, they just came and were served and received lots of hugs from me!!!! This is how the world is supposed to be. No judgement, no negativity, just LOVE!! To sit back and watch everyone eating and coming up for seconds, well it does a heart good. I know I have said it so many times, but this is honestly one of the happiest times for me. To be able to show others just how important they are. Thank you so much to everyone that served, donated, and prayed for this event. It was everything we expected and more!! We serve a mighty God and all things are possible with him. To God be the glory!!!
Our next serving day will be Sunday, July 20th. Will be posting a list of food needs then. We are praying to be able to do a picnic/cookout on our August date!
GOD IS GOOD. . . ALL THE TIME!
