Today was simply amazing. We served at our new location, St. Lucas Church, and we were just not sure what to expect. We prayed that God would send the perfect number and my goodness did he ever.
We served 170 people. Can I get an AMEN!!! We did not begin serving until 4 p.m. but we had people lined up as early as 3:15. When we finally opened the doors for the people to come in there were over 40 people waiting. There were so many families that came and each child received an Easter Basket, plus we had care packages for the adults. The interaction was amazing. Dennis felt like a superstar, because everyone knew him.
The compliments we received on the food and how much they were able to eat. God was definitely in the house. It is always difficult when you serve at a new place, as you are not sure how may will show up, how smoothly will it run, etc, but it was AWESOME. One gentleman asked Jamie for a bag and Jamie gave it to him and Jamie said “Here you go friend” and we overheard the man saying to one of his friends, he just met me and he called me friend. He was so excited. Another guy was calling Jamie “Daddy” and when they left he asked when we were coming back. Actually I think every single person there today asked when we were serving again.
The best part is, they were actually served today. We had people getting their drinks, napkins, more food. . it was just so cool to watch the interaction. Jesus was definitely in the house and the love was overflowing. My most favorite part is how every single person that entered, I am confident felt loved. No strings attached, they just came and were served. This is how the world is supposed to be. No judgement, no negativity, just LOVE!! To sit back and watch everyone eating and coming up for seconds, well it does a heart good. I know I have said it so many times, but this is honestly one of the happiest times for me. To be able to show others just how important they are. . . I don’t care what their background is, if they have a job, if they are black, white, or purple with pink polka dots, because to me all I see is God’s creation. . masterpieces. I also sat back today and watched how God orchestrated all of this. For us to do the FREE Laundromat Day in February, to stopping by the church (as it is behind the Laundromat), meeting the pastor, and just how it all came into existence; totally a God thing! Thank you so much to everyone that served, donated, and prayed for this event. It was everything we expected and more!!
GOD IS GOOD. . . ALL THE TIME!!
